Specsavers invests £70,000 in store

RESIDENTS across Blackburn can now benefit from impressive funding, thanks to the local Specsavers’ £70,000 investment in a store improvement programme, which has improved its facilities and the services it provides to the local community.

In response to feedback from its valued customers Directors at the Blackburn store saw an opportunity to expand the diagnostics and pre-screening area and re-design the shop floor.  The increase in space makes the environment safer and more comfortable for customers also resulting in increased levels of privacy.

The investment also purchased additional equipment and customers can now benefit from more availability for an enhanced sight test using OCT (optical coherence tomography) technology. The hospital-grade technology uses light to take more than 1,000 images of the back of an eye and beyond, looking right back at the optic nerve and creating a cross-section view.

Customers’ OCT images are stored on file so Specsavers can help note changes over time in order to monitor the state of someone’s overall eye health. An OCT scan is in addition to a normal eye test and can be requested when an appointment is booked or upon arrival in store.

Amanda Jeewooth Retail director at Specsavers Blackburn says: ‘We have listened to our valued customers and invested in the store to improve their experience, develop the facilities and increase our OCT testing capabilities. We are really pleased with the results and look forward to welcoming our customers to the new environment.’

Work has just completed and Blackburn residents can immediately benefit from the improvements.
