Where the Wild Things are

If you thought faux-fur was big this winter then be prepared to see the trend explode this September. A warm and fuzzy coat is an essential this season and the shops will come alive with yeti-like hooded items in white, black and leopard print, with splashes of statement shearling seen on gilets, boots and accessories.

Men: All about warm and fuzzy coats, leopard print jackets and knitted hats

Children: Fleece and fake fur are really big this winter for children. Go for fleece or fur trims on vests, jackets, hoodies and hats, along with splashes of animal print and furry boots

70s Forever

The big 70s comeback is going nowhere for autumn. Whether you're into hippie trail bohemia or uptown 70s chic, there's still a version of the trend to love. The trend includes ditsy floral prairie dresses accessorised with fringed waistcoats and capes, along with louche corduroy dungarees, peasant blouses and skinny scarves. The poncho is a key piece for autumn.

Men: In men’s fashion it’s all about the modern seventies. Menswear is contemporary with a focus on tactile texture and warm 70s inspired colourways. Neutrals are tan and chocolate tones and textures include boiled and textured knits and suede.

Children: This autumn you cannot go wrong with any special occasion with a floral dress for girls and large or small floral print shirts either in soft pastels blues or mauves for boys. A pretty 70’s inspired velvet dress for girls featuring rich jewel colours like berry or violet is also a key wardrobe staple.

Acceptable in the 80s

The 70s wasn't the only decade on the mood board of designers and retailers for AW15. There was also the beginnings of a move on to 80s. Power shoulders, ruffles, colour block knits and rainbow colour combos which defined the decade of Dynasty, Bananarama and Wham!

Those that lunch

A decidedly ladylike trend to land this season. Think tweed skirt suits paired with delicate block heeled ballerinas, as well as timeless coats and knitted separates, midi skirts and neat jackets all in rich fabrics and worn with ladylike gloves and handbags.

Men: For men it’s all about those timeless pieces and beautiful cuts with a key colour this season being deeply saturated shades of bottle green, paired with charcoal or black.

Children: Go for the preppie look which is always great for a special occasion or birthday party. A navy blazer teamed with a pin striped shirt is a smart choice for boys. And, for the girls, checked or pinstriped small dots on shirts and dresses are very on trend this season.

Get Graphic with your Prints Charming

Prints have been brought right up to date this autumn. The most vibrant of the new season trends is the bold, graphic art-inspired mood which came in every hue imaginable on the catwalk. Monochromatic checkerboard prints appeared on drop-waisted dresses with tunics emblazoned with red and black cubes.

Men: Graphic tailored shirts and fashion forward graphics like City Tour for men drawing inspiration from maps to iconic architecture
Children: Patterns in geometrics such as big retro inspired prints, metallic gold or silver stripes and an array of multi-colours are fun for both tops and leggings. For boys, select slim trackies or stretchy skinny pants in any colour of the rainbow.

Victoriana Noir

Fashion fans will be looking to the past this season, with the influences of the Victorian era seen across the catwalk and high street collections. The essential components of this darkly decadent look include sheer fabrics, frilled details, luxurious embellishments and floor-skimming lengths.
