Easter Gifts and Things to Do

HAVE A CRACKING EASTER WITH GIFTS IDEAS AND THINGS TO DO AT THE MALL WOOD GREEN

Spring is FINALLY here, and Easter is on its way, which means chocolate eggs, gorgeous gifts and fun, bunny activities at The Mall. Stuck for a present idea or looking for something to do over the school holidays? We’ve got Easter all wrapped up.

Eggs-tra special homeware

If you haven’t seen the enormous range of Easter goodies in Primark, then run, don’t walk (or should we say, hop?), to our brilliant store in City Square. Transform your home into an Easter wonderland with floral door wreaths, cute bunny ornaments, themed mugs, pastel egg decorations, seasonal scented candles and our favourite item, LED egg lights. Any of these items would also make great gifts, if you want to mix it up this year and move away from Easter eggs.

If you’re planning an Easter egg hunt, they’ve got some beautiful signs, and the sweetest white rabbit collecting bag we’ve ever seen. We can guarantee the kids will love them!!

Treat time

It’s not Easter without a chocolate egg and Lidl has a fabulous selection of family favourites in all different sizes. They’ve also got lots of little seasonal treats too so if you’re entertaining and have a house full of children, these little giveaways will come in handy (and keep them quiet, for a while at least).

As well as big-name brands such as Cadbury, Lidl has a mouth-watering range of its own-brand Favorina and Deluxe eggs – we’re loving the Deluxe Orange Chocolate Marble Egg and the Italian Style Egg, which looks sensational in its elegant gold wrapping.

Oh, and can we just mention Lidl’s hot cross buns? As well as traditionally flavoured classics, they’ve also got triple chocolate, apple and cinnamon, very berry and St Clements varieties too. We’ve tried every flavour and can confirm they’re all yummy!

Seasonal blooms

Visiting friends and family over the Bank Holiday weekend and don’t want to turn up empty handed or keen like to fill your home with the scent of spring flowers? Head down to our Market Hall where the wonderful Anne’s Florist will create a seasonal bouquet just for you.

Family film fun

The BIG movie this spring is the new Snow White film, but if you’ve already seen it, then how about the Minecraft Movie, which comes out on 4 April? It follows the adventures of four misfits who get pulled into the Overworld by a mysterious portal. A must for Minecraft fans.

Not a gamer? Then The King of Kings is another one to watch. Out at Cineworld on 11 April, it’s an animated film in which writer, Charles Dicken shares the story of Jesus Christ with his young son Walter. It features the voices of well-known actors Kenneth Brannagh, Uma Thurman, Pierce Brosnan and Ben Kingsley and is perfect for family viewing.

If you’re looking for something to do over the holidays, a cinema trip always ticks the boxes!

Play Time

Trying to avoid buying the kids too many sweet treats this year? How about a toy instead? Something they can play with when all the chocolate has gone.

Card Factory has a cute range of cuddly toys which includes bunnies of all shapes and sizes, a dinosaur holding its own egg, a lovely lamb and a polka dot egg. Or if they’d prefer something a little more hands-on, head to Toy City where there’s something for everyone. The Sylvanian Family sets make gorgeous gifts for little girls (there’s an Easter egg hutch and rabbit set, which is adorable), they’ve got a HUGE selection of Lego or there’s Play-Doh, which is always a winner with pre-schoolers.

Feeding the Family

Are you hosting a big family get together over the Easter weekend? If you like to like to keep things traditional and are planning a huge roast with all the trimmings, make Wood Green Meat Market the first stop on your shopping trip and pick up a gorgeous lamb joint that’s big enough to feed the entire family.

Or if dining’s a more casual affair in your household (and we get decent weather over the Easter hols), then how about a BBQ? Stock up in advance on all the essentials (we’re thinking burgers, sausages, kebabs and maybe even a steak or two) and pop them in the freezer, ready for Easter weekend.

And if you don’t fancy making a pudding and can’t persuade a family member to whip up something spectacular, then how about a selection of tempting treats from J’Adore Cakes? Go on – we know you’re tempted!!

Turkish Twist

If hosting at home over the Bank Holiday weekend really isn’t your thing and you’d prefer to dine out with your loved ones (because let’s face it who wants to cook and clear up afterwards), then book a table at our terrific Turkish restaurant, Kervan Sofrasi.

They serve lots of lovely lamb dishes (if you fancy sticking to an Easter theme) – we’d heartily recommend the Alti Exmeli Lamb Shish, which is smoky, buttery and utterly delicious - a Turkish classic with a modern twist. Don’t forget they do cocktails and delectable desserts too!

Bunny Hop Wonderland

There’s always something fun going on at the Centre over the Bank Holiday weekend and this year we’ve joined together with Wood Green BID to create an egg-citing Easter Adventure.

Our Bunny Hop Wonderland takes places on 18 and 19 April from 11am-4pm so make sure you block it out in your diary and bring the kids along for some Easter fun.

Visit our beautiful Easter Garden for themed arts and crafts, strike a pose at our seasonal Selfie Station and hop along to our Easter Egg Hunt, where you’ll be given a map to find six giant Easter eggs, which have been hidden around the town. Once you’ve spotted them all, you’ll receive a scrummy chocolate bunny as a reward.
